Barber 1,000-Hour Certificate Program

Simi Institute's NEW Barber 1,000-Hour Certificate Program teaches the fundamentals of men's hair dressing, skin care, and shaving. Students will complete a series of courses in hairstyling, hair cutting, hair coloring, permanent waving, chemical straightening, men's facials, men's manicures, shaving, and facial hair design. Students will also learn basic business and salon management skills as well as the basics of men's hair replacement. All of our students are provided with a course schedule that allows them to efficiently complete all operations and hour requirements set forth by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Advanced students will perform a variety of hair, skin, and shaving services in our full-service, on-site salon.

To complete the Barber 1,000 Hour Certificate program, new students must complete 3 course levels, a minimum of 1,000 hours and all required practical operations.*

Prerequisite: Related Science (Health & Safety)

Course Fee: $1,850 per level

LEVEL 1

Beginning December 2022, the $55 fee for the Related Science Health & Safety prerequisite will be included in Level 1 core class tuition. The new fee structure for Level 1 core class will be as follows: 

Barber - Level 1: $1,905

Related Science Health & Safety is still a REQUIRED week-long, self-paced online course that must be successfully completed prior to beginning any core class (Barber, Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Manicurist). We now offer an optional in-person tutorial session on the first day of class that covers the basics of navigating Google Classroom.
