Current Barber Day Class Schedules

Dear cosmetologist, barber, esthetician, and manicurist students,

We are excited to be able to offer you Summer Term 2020!

As you know, there are many federal, state, county, and local ordinances that are currently restricting the way that we must operate at the current moment.  However, we are dedicated to delivering you the academic content and hands-on practice that you need to successfully graduate ASAP.

Levels 1 and 2 will operate mostly remotely.  You will be asked to come to campus briefly on the first day of class to pick up your supplies and to hear about the details of how classes will operate (details  will follow in an email).  Your teachers will be those listed below and classes will be taught at times below.  You will touch base remotely with your instructor each week, work on assignments in the comfort of your own home, practice on your doll heads, doll hands, and family members, and come to campus in small groups on occasion to perform hands-on skills evaluation.  You will be able to earn your full hours per week and all practical operations.

Levels 3 & 4 cosmetologist and barber will operate classes mostly remotely, coming to campus in small groups occasionally for hands-on skills evaluation.  The salon will be open at limited capacity (expanded as allowed by government ordinances) and we will utilize other spaces within the main salon for hands on practice with your instructors.  You will also have the opportunity to work some days each week in the comfort of your home, practice on doll heads, doll hands, and family members.  You will be able to earn your full hours per week and all practical operations in a hybrid fashion.

Level 3 manicurist and esthetician are unfortunately not currently allowed to perform services in the Salon at Simi Institute per state restrictions.  We hope that this can change in the near future.  However, we are arranging for you to also earn your full hours per week and all practical operations in a hybrid fashion.  You will also have the opportunity to work some days each week in the comfort of your home, practice on doll heads, doll hands, and family members.  You will come to campus in small groups on occasion to perform hands-on evaluation of skills.  More specific details about new policies will be covered on Monday June 8th in a ZOOM presentation (a log-in link will follow via email).

Prior to working in the salon, all Level 3 and 4 students will need to complete some online training in sanitation and disinfection, and related to the COVID virus.  If you participated in classes April-May you should have already done this.

Sincerely,

Your SICE Cosmetology Department
