Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical administrative assistants complete a variety of administrative tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. This course is a self-paced, online program. A person attending 25 hours per week should be able to complete this program in approximately 20 weeks.

Curriculum

The following courses must be completed to earn this career certificate:

  • Intro to Computers
  • Windows
  • Keyboarding 1 (40wpm)*
  • Business English Review
  • Word Level 1
  • Medical Terminology
  • Medical Office Procedures.**

Dates: Register anytime. Open-entry, self-paced. 13 weeks enrollment starts on registration date.

Days: Self-paced (Computer lab open Monday - Friday)

Time: M/W: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, T/Th: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Fri: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Room: 201

NCCRS Credits: 3 (only applies to Medical Terminology component of class)

Fee: $360 for 13 weeks

Prerequisite: Must be 18 years or older, speak, read, write English at 12th grade US high school level. A reading comprehension test will be given on the first night of class. Additionally, a background check may be required for any externships and licensing, certification, or registration with the CDPH. Per the requirements of our clinical site partners, all Phlebotomist students are required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination(s) prior to beginning any externship. No exceptions will be made.
